MOVING ANTIOCH FORWARD TOGETHERDominique is running for Antioch City Council, District 2, and will bring a fresh perspective by prioritizing public safety, economic growth, housing, infrastructure, community engagement, and the preservation of open spaces. She is committed to advocating for policies that foster community engagement, safety, and a higher quality of life for all residents. Dominique believes that project outcomes can be achieved with transparency and within budget by collaborating with all Antioch stakeholders.
As a dedicated wife, mother, and community leader, Dominique brings over a decade of experience in advocacy and community engagement. Currently, she serves as the Chair of Antioch’s Parks and Recreation Commission, which advises the Council, City Manager, Parks and Recreation Director, and Public Works Superintendent on policy, projects, budgets, and public concerns. Since 2021, she has contributed to various projects, including establishing a tiered system for park accessibility and inclusivity for adults and children with disabilities, the Bicycle Garden Project, and the L Street Bikeway & Streetscape Improvement Project. Dominique has also served on ad hoc committees for the Rivertown Community Space and Civic Engagement grants. Her current focus as Chair is forming an ad hoc committee for the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC).
Dominique has volunteered as an educational advocate for the past seven years, supporting Antioch families by assisting children who need additional educational support, particularly those with disabilities. Her work centers on educating, supporting, and advocating for students and their families to ensure they receive the necessary resources to succeed. Dominique also serves as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Oscar Grant Foundation, the Educational Chair for the East Contra Costa County NAACP, and a Delta Learning Center board member. She founded and led Antioch’s first local chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. Additionally, she collaborates with nonprofits such as NAMI Contra Costa on mental health initiatives and helps small nonprofits secure funding through grants.
Professionally, Dominique and her husband co-founded Lean In With The Kings, a mission-driven small business focused on promoting personal and community accountability through health and wellness. Their work centers on marriage, family, and community engagement. They have been active in community partnerships, including a collaboration with Nike, where Dominique served as a Community Coach for a Run Group in Berkeley, California.
Dominique is also a columnist for the Concord Clayton Pioneer newspaper, where she has written pieces such as “Gun Safety Call for Frank Talk” (October 2023) and “Taking Steps to be Heard” (March 2024). Additionally, she wrote as a freelance columnist for PR Now Magazine, contributing to their marriage and couple series.
From 2010 to 2015, Dominique ran a successful small business, 2 Spoons llc, a catering company specializing in allergy-friendly desserts. She and her husband, Kenneth King, a Deputy Sheriff for Alameda County, chose Antioch to raise their family, purchasing their home in 2014. They have three children, two of whom attend AUSD schools. Dominique is an avid runner and enjoys exploring the town’s trail systems and the various East Bay Regional Parks.
